如何将JSON文本转换为PHP关联数组

我将以下JSON对象存储在文本文件(data.txt)中:

{"player":"black","time":"0","from":"2c","to":"3d"}

我用php读到:

<?php
  $data = file_get_contents('data.txt');
?>

问题: 有什么简单的方法可以转换 $data 到一个PHP关联数组。我试过用 json_decode($data); 但那没用,有什么建议吗?

$assocArray = json_decode($data, true);

第二个参数将结果设置为对象(false,默认值)或关联数组(true)。
